A parallele universe in which cyrus is sinnoh champion and cynthia is team galactic boss
This made me think about how that could be possible, and this is what II came up with:
I’d imagine this alternate universe as a place where Cyrus’ Grandfather took Cyrus away form his parents at a relatively young age and Cynthia wasn’t so close to her grandmother, thus deciding that she would use the knowledge of legendary Pokemon that her grandmother taught her to try to make the world into her own paradise.
Due to being raised by his grandfather instead of his parents, Cyrus views the world as a place that he wants to make better through using his power as Sinnoh Champion to educate the public. His grandfather regards the move of taking his grandson away from an otherwise much different life as one of the best choices that he’s ever made, even though it was difficult to pay to take care of young Cyrus at first.
Galactic Boss Cynthia didn’t have much contact with people or Pokemon until she got a particularly violent Gible in college. She especially enjoyed visiting her grandmother in Celestic, but mostly for the purpose of hearing the legends of Sinnoh. Seeing all of the injustice in the world, Cynthia vowed to use Sinnoh’s deities to wipe the universe clean of emotions, especially since she had heard the tale of Mesprit, who rules over emotion yet does nothing to stop people’s emotions form spiraling out of control and causing war and suffering.
Cynthia’s closest followers include another woman named Mars, who is hopelessly in love with her boss and constantly faces rejection, a woman named Jupiter who is following Cynthia simply because she has nobody else to believe in, and Cynthia’s giant land-shark Garchomp, who hates everybody but Cynthia herself. Oh, and there’s a man named Saturn who’s more or less in it for kicks and an old scientist named Charon, but they aren’t all that dedicated to the cause.
Cyrus is sorry for Cynthia in a way and wonders if he would have had a similar mindset had it not been for his grandfather’s action, but in the end Cynthia is a danger to the world that he holds dear and thus must be stopped.
Cynthia’s grandmother is terribly regretful for teaching Cynthia about the legendary Pokemon of Sinnoh, and wonders if Cynthia wouldn’t have tried to destroy the world if Cynthia’s grandmother had tried harder to reach out to her granddaughter.
Cyrus’ Crobat was given to him by his grandfather as a Zubat when he had first moved in, and quickly became his best friend growing up, and evolved into a Golbat and then a Crobat. The Crobat is now revered and feared as a force to be reckoned with and the Pokemon that helped win Cyrus the title of champion.
Alternate universes are fun, especially how a few small changes can have such drastic consequences, such as Cyrus and Cynthia switching places. Is this more or less what you were thinking when you came up with this?
Well, I switched their places more for fun. I wasn’t giving much thought what their circumstances would be, but I guess your headcanon for this AU is pretty much similar to mine, except I imagined Cyrus still growing up with his parents. At some point of his life, he would have been rescued by his grandfather or someone else, but I imagined Champ Cyrus to be an emotionally strong person. He’s soft-spoken and doesn’t like to brag, and he’s still traumatized by how his parents treated him, but he’s trying his best to get over them and live a life of his own. Cynthia, I guess, follows your headcanon pretty much, though. I just liked to imagine a champion who grew up in a traumatizing household and a villain who grew up in a peaceful household. The inexcusable villain is my favorite♡
